Ya, Underword (sic) was an okay read, but my signed copy is not prized important to me, even though it was aquired at a reading here in Washingon, DC that was attended by a small group of P-Listers. My photos from the MD marker search... priceless.

The jewel of the crown is without a doubt my first hardcover edition of GR,
closely followed by my first editions of V. and Lot 49. In the event of
fire, after getting my daughter, my wife and my Pynchon first editions (in
no particular order) out of the burning building, I'd return into the flames
and try to save my first editions of William Gaddis' 'The Recognitions' and
'JR', Flann O'Brien's 'The Third Policeman', David Foster Wallace's 'The
Broom of the System' (only 1200 printed of those) and 'Infinite Jest'
(signed), William Gibson's 'Neuromancer' (the original Ace paperback), and
Martin Amis' 'Money'. Plus, I'd take my reading copy of GR along as well -
can't go without that for more than a couple of days. On the other hand, I
would have no qualms about leaving my signed first edition of Don DeLillo's
'Underworld' behind to be consumed by the flames.
