Iain Sinclair, Will Self & Jonathan Meades
26 October at 7 p.m.
Alongside the contemporary London of noise and celebrity is that other city:
of the dead, the unvoiced, the erased. Iain Sinclair has long been
fascinated by interzones, cracks, crannies, 'lost' biographies and myths of
place. In *London: City of Disappearances* (Hamish Hamilton), he turns away
from official versions and approved histories, and with the help of a host
of contributors, brings to light the fugitive scraps, faded newspaper
cuttings and patterns in the dust. Novelist and psychogeographer Will Self
and the outspoken architectural commentator Jonathan Meades will join Iain
to discuss and read from the book.
All events start at 7.00 p.m. with wine and nibbles. Tickets, £6 (£4 if you
are an *LRB* subscriber), must be booked in advance on 020 7269 9030 or
events at lrbshop.co.uk.
