I'm wondering if the people who have read those authors have read, and enjoyed, TRP. Certainly most TRP fans have tried, and maybe enjoyed, them. Be that as it may:

Writers:
Steve Erickson
Katherine Dunn
George Mangels
Rupert Thompson

Commentators:
John Krafft
David Cowart
John Stark
Kathryn Hume

And just because:
Professor Irwin Corey
Paris Hilton

Should be fun.

Regards,

Mike

...to talk about the work in general and/or Against the Day in particular, who would be on it? I just suggested such an evening to the programmer of a public lecture series on the West Coast, and got a tentative offer to moderate the thing some night next spring. So, if you were putting together a TRP tribute album, who would you call? Some modicum of fame might help, since they are hoping to sell a ducat or two. Much though I'd walk 10 miles barefoot on a freezing morning just to stand in John Krafft's shit (to paraphrase Richard Brautigan), the general public may feel differently.) So who's on your all-star team?

  David Foster Wallace?
  Mark Danielewski?
  Richard Branson?
  Matt Groening?
  John Larroquette?
  T.C. Boyle?
  Colson Whitehead?
  Julian Barnes?
  Rick Moody?
  Emily Barton?
  Edward Mendelson?

Or do we want a panel composed exclusively of Pynchon blurbees down the years, from Tom Robbins to Matt Ruff and beyond? By all means, go to town on this one. You are, as much as anybody, the target audience...

  All finest,
  David
