I certainly don't think that the Tristero is an empty
signifier (I wouldn't have tattooed it to myself if I
thought that was the case...), just one that can't be
pinned down, that contains its opposite. There may a
there there, it's just hard to see where there is, or
even how many theres (if any, true!) there may be
there.
"Either Oedipa in the orbiting ecstasy of a true
paranoia, or a real Tristero," among other things.
