Zak Smith to give slide talk at USC

INSPIRED BY comic books, girls and writer Thomas Pynchon, Zak Smith
has made a big mark on the art world during the past few years. He'll
give a slide talk at USC at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Smith, who was in the 2004 biennial at the Whitney Museum of American
Art, has done a page-by-page artistic response to Pynchon's 760-page
tome "Gravity's Rainbow," which was published last year.

Thursday's free presentation is in Room 011 of Calcott Hall, behind
the Russell House off Bull and College streets; (803) 319-6428.
