Interesting way to translate the original Kys'.
I looked through the first chapter and somehow it doesn't seem to me that 
the translator is altogether successful in rendering Tolstaya's style. She 
invented the language for this book partially based on the language of the 
correspondence between Ivan the Terrible and Prince Kurbsky. That's a more 
modest experiment than Pynchon's 18th century English, but it's quite good. 
Izba is there. Makes me think of Magyakan's izba in AtD.
