It's also effective for communication in Dunkin Donuts and other chain
shops. I'm not kidding. Brazilians are becoming one of the most important
immigrant groups in the Eastern U.S. It's helpful to understand and
communicate with the people with whom you interact on a daily basis.
Cultural and political implications aside, it's a pragmatic choice.
