If Lake's is only a phantasy, must not Webb's being blown up,
spawning an alternate reality, have also not really happened?

I think that when Jesus was praying, "let this cup pass from me",
the cause for the three sleeping disciples was, in an alternate
universe Jesus was seeking with his prayer to avoid the cross,
those three would have be dead, lacking his imminent atonement.
