These two scenes begin the trek along Webb's trail of tears, the trip
to Jeshimon: "It was to be a trail of pain, Deuce trying to draw it
out, Sloat, closer to the realities of pain, trying to move it along.
Sloat handled the physical torture, Deuce dealt the mental. Webb is
kicking himself for ever trusting Deuce. And amidst the dishing out,
Deuce and Sloat tangentially discuss their differing attitudes to
this job. Deuce extols all the big money to be made dealing with
Anarchists, this is their gold rush. Their destination is revealed to
Webb, and both forms of torture are pictured.

Then a quick take in Cortez where gunhand Jimmy Drop sees them, but
is without his gun (taking a leak out back, actually.) By the time he
scores one from a fandango girl, it is too late for him to offer any
rescue.
