Wikipedia dangers

I like wikipedia and have become a frequent user, but a recent
article by Robert Fisk, who I regard as one of the most reliable and
balanced reporters from the near east was pretty disturbing. In a
recent article Fisk details how false wikipedia entries were used by
Canadian immigration to stop Taner Akcam a Turkish scholar who used
Turkish documents to prove the Armenian genocide in his book A
Shameful Act. The canadians behaved civilly and sorted it out but
the implications were creepy.

I know this is off topic but Wikipedia is a major info source here
and perhaps a bit of discussion would be appropriate.
