Bingo. The math in AtD is there to exemplify how desperately people want 
a system that promises more-than-human certainty. As are anarchism and 
Werfnerian geopolitics, Fuad of the Desert and Vibe's final, frothing 
vision of capital triumphant (pp. 1000-1001). As was astronomy in M&D. 
As were control theory in GR, virtu' and the quest for V herself before 
that.
