So you and a few people need my freeware, WordsEx.
I read my e-mails from the P list by pasting them into it,
sitting nearly motionless w/smooth scrolling and big font.
I export .PDF files as .TXT and re-open them in WordsEx,
forsaking of course, all the pictures. It is text only.
I let it open URLs for me; And invoke 54 search engines
for my search topics, harvesting pages til they run dry.
The code reached a new plateau this morning, with new
lanuage guessing, sentence boundary recognition, and
early work for signage/significant text distinctions.
If you download this and save to your desktop,
http://home.earthlink.net/~glenn_scheper/WordsEx.exe
then execute WordsEx, and do "Add, Internet Search",
it will by default query 54 search engines.
If you make a file with the following three lines of text:
GET 100 http://www.waste.org/mail/?list=pynchon-l&keywords=
good url has next TOKEN "bytes)"
more url has anchortext NUMBER
and load that file using "File, Load Search Engines",
then WordsEx becomes a tool to search the P archives.
For example, I dragged in all 77 posts mentioning Stupendica:
Query result page 1 from search engine 100 (www.waste.org) produced 10 hit
URLs, 7 continuation URLs in 3 seconds.
...
-- Add, Internet Search: stupendica
And exported a list of URL discovered, which amounted to:
77 ======= Group 1: Good URLs in memory
8 ======= Group 3: Query results URLs
408 ======= Group 7: Unfetched new URLs
Then I searched for Stupendica in the harvest, choosing the
KWIC format, and got all word occurrences sorted by secret
(or difficult to describe) complexity valuation heuristics:
Find Words: stupendica

Kit's personal transformation.
