I've been listening to Stockhausen since I was 16. The influence of his
"Hymnen" can not be overestimated, e.g. one of the influences named on FZ
and the Mother's first album, "Freak Out," and the jets coming in on Back in
the USSR on "The White Album" are practically a direct quote from Hymnen.
On November 8th, I finally heard a piece of his, Zyklus,played live at the
Italian Embassy. A highly defined, yet extremely open composition; the
percussionist, Simone Mancuso, was great. FWIW, Bjork interviewed KS when
she was a teen.
