1. "prophet" = "profit" pun in Scarsdale Vibe's discussion of Tesla's 'World System' (p. 33).

2. "Well, in theory, I don't see any great obstacle. It's a simple phase inversion, though there may be non-linear phenomena of scale we cannot predict till we build a working Device --" (p. 34).

Is this phase inversion similar to the inverted stimulus/response in GR?

Does this somehow relate to the stimulus/response moment of my previous post re: subtle psychology?

3. Does the word "material" (p. 34, line 3) have an accent or something over the first "e"? Why is that? Editing error?

4. "Vibe's eyes with a contemptuous twinkle which colleagues had learned meant he had what he wanted" (p. 34).

Is the narrative voice being deliberately tongue-in-cheek here by referring to Vibe's "colleagues" (pleasant connotations) despite the fact that "the criminality in the room was almost palpable" (p. 35)?

What do you make of the narrative voice when presenting Scarsdale Vibe? How do Vibe's actual words correspond to the way the narrator presents him?
