John Dos Passos wrote a biographical sketch of J. P. Morgan in book two of the USA trilogy:

"Dos Passos completed the manuscript of 1919 in the summer of 1931, but Harpers rejected the book when Dos Passos refused to cut the satirical portrait of J.P. Morgan, who had recently given the publisher financial assistance."
