What came to my mind was the karmic wheel:
"With this ability to enter deeply into the lives of another it is
not surprising that the insights expressed in his teachings
gained a wide audience and universal acceptance. Buddha,
noticing this, proposed that a picture should be made
representing Maudgalyayana's teachings, so that his
message could be made available to even those who did
not have direct access to him. Thus was born the esoteric
image known as 'The Wheel of Life.' This diagram serves
as a powerful inspiration to spiritual aspirants and is painted
to the left of all Tibetan monasteries, offering an opportunity
to both monks and pilgrims alike, to look deeply into their
own inner beings."

"The first part contains information on the life of the Buddha,
Buddhism, and on Tibetan Buddhism and its present leader,
The Fourteenth Dalai Lama. The sacred Kalachakra teaching
is then introduced, and a 12-day initiation ceremony
conducted by the Dalai Lama in New York in 1991 is
described. The Kalachakra mandala, or Wheel of Time
mandala, is discussed, complete with a visual guide to help
readers understand the path to enlightenment."

"Karma is far greater than the sum total of an individual's actions.
It includes the effects of causes, actions and fruits and the
impressions created in sub conscious mind by these actions.
The cause and effect relationship between actions and their
fruits is the basis of law of karma. You can make the karmic
wheel work in your favor. More

Tim Strzechowski: "It's nothing supernatural. Most people have a wheel riding
up on a wire, or some rails in the street, some kind of guide or groove, to keep
them moving in the direction of their destiny. But you keep bouncing free.
Avoiding penance and thereby definition" (p. 41).
"wheel" of course suggests the Ferris wheel
The passage resonates with "yo-yo" connotations / Benny Profane
Sort of reminds me of a toy I had as a kid, can't recall the name of it, but it
was a bent wire on a handle onto which you placed a wheel and it magnetically
rolled up and down the wire, yo-yo-like. I can picture it.
