You're describing labor history as "incremental, non-dynamite reformism." This ignores the militant sit-down strikes of the CIO, and all the union activists who got arrested, got their heads busted, and occassionally resorted to dynamite, murder, etc. to force the bosses to negotiate. It's no surprise that the labor movement of today is so weak, now that the fat-cats in charge have turned their backs on the militant tactics of their forebearers.
