I don't think anybody's personal views are completely obvious here
on the List, though...but they can be on-topic if clarifying them
pertains to how one might apprehend the fiction...

from Webb's point of view, reformism is just more snouts at the trough; 
it's probably only slightly on-topic to say I think he's wrong, wrong, 
wrong about that!  maybe a little more so to say that Pynchon works
_with_ that kind of cynicism as subject matter and matrix for dark 
humor, but I don't think he is working _toward_ that viewpoint.
