Yeah, if someone had told me that Bob didn't make the phrase up himself,
I'd have taken an educated guess that it was biblical. He's very well
known to have filched any number of phrases from the bible, and was
reported to have had an old King James bible open on a lectern while
working on his 'John Wesley Harding' album. Later of course, all that
Jesus stuff went to his head...

Well now, *you* might be willing to wait, and by 'you' of course I mean
everyone else on the p-list (and in the wider world) except me, but I
intend to try doing a little research into the Dylan-Pynchon link, if I
ever get any time. Probably turn out they never met!
