Hence The Daily Show. All Jon Stewart needs to do is
play the video clips. It's a self-satirizing
administration. Sept. 11th, 2001, coincidentally, was
the day The Onion was supposed to hit the streets of
NYC in wide circulation, and for free (always has been
here, it originated in Madison, so ...). That of
course didn't happen. I recall this because friends
there asked me to send copies of whatever ensued. I
sent boxes. Anyway, a week (or two) later, it was
uncharacteristically though perhaps understandably
flag-waving. The week after that, however ...
