Cf., however, Pete Townshend on, say, "The Kids are
Alright," esp. around those supended 4ths. But I
can't help but hear The Byrds in "If I Needed
Someone," or vice versa, and even more around the
harmonies than the melody/instrumentation/arrangement.
By the way, recently found a rather less mellifluous
cover by The Sting-Rays of Newburgh, along with a "Run
for Your Life" by The Harbour Lites, and s few
"Ob-La-Di Ob-la-Da"'s (Joyce Bond, The Bedrocks, The
Marmalade, Chris Shekespeare and The Globe Show) ...
