>I guess we have widely divergent opinions here.

Indeed we do. And I don't want to make too much of the fact that you haven't
finished the book yet. But I have re-read a number of sections and every
single one of them has revealed itself to be far richer than I realised.

The 'review' is a disgrace to the Irish Times, it's unbleivably pathetic,
wrong-headed, mypoic and sloppy.

One one hand, I have no problem with anyone criticising ATD, I'm not so
blinkered a Pynchon fan-biy. BUt this sort of thing just doesn't deserve
serious consideration, it's a fucking joke. And on the other hand, you're
not wrong that I can't get with anyone who doesn't feel the book is a
'success', cause it's a classic, easily able to stand proudly among
Pynchon's dud-free oeuvre. It isn't perfect, what novel is? I have my
favourite and not-so-favourite segments and aspects, but the vast majority
of these negative reviews are ill-informed, fatuous shite.
