a couple three

"I think that "couple three" is just good for the atmosphere that is
being
created in the book related to some kind of wavering in dimensions, a
refraction, possible other coordinates off to the side? that kind of
thing?
I'm not a math person really so .. maybe maybe not.
jill"

Wouldn't bet on intentionality here, but beside the way it captures
American idiom, the phrase makes me think of the book cover which is
not actually double refraction but double refraction with an
alternate font sandwiched in between . The Font in between is more
like the capitals of text Font though I have not examined it
precisely. This is also suggestive of an intermediary alternative
between two degrees of the original light, "what the world might be
with a minor adjustment or 2".

Taking the idea bit further, History is honored as source and ground
but is also caught and refracted in the fictional but emotionally,
intellectually real lives of the Traverse family, the Rideouts,
Tyrian, Yashmeen etc. shuttling between these two and between past
and present are the more clearly stylized/imaginative chums,
Padzhitnoff , sand submarines and human shaped northern bad-asses.

There is the phenomenal world of light, energy, time...and refracted
with remarkable verisimilitude the scientific/ mathematical
description. and sandwiched between the laws of reality and the
mathematically described laws of physics is the ever variable
interpretation.
