Well, it seems to me that the stamp was put on s jacket laid out flat
(so that It could bend around the corner of the book), then put on the
book. The jacket WE then have is an orthographic projection of a 3D
object (a jacketed book) onto a 2D surface (the jacket we now have
wrapped around the book we now have). It's all about levels of
abstract representation of real-world objects - like the famous
Delta-T breakdown of the rockets movement in GR.
