Indeed, I happened upon that studying:

 Ezekiel 1:4
 And I looked,
 and,
 behold,
 a whirlwind came out of the north,
 a great cloud,
 and a fire infolding itself,
 and a brightness was about it,
 and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber,
 out of the midst of the fire.

 Hebrew 'etzphun'

 North:
 darkness,
 cold,
 sterility;
 place of the sun's annual death;
 opposite of South (Resh).

 South:
 place of sun at his meridian height;
 opposite of North (peh).

 H6828
 From H6845; properly hidden, that is, dark;
 used only of the north as a quarter (gloomy and unknown):
 - north (-ern, side, -ward, wind).

 H6845
 tsaw-fan'
 A primitive root; to hide (by covering over);
 by implication to hoard or reserve; figuratively to deny;
 specifically (favorably) to protect, (unfavorably) to lurk:
 - esteem, hide (-den one, self), lay up, lurk (be set) privily,
 (keep) secret (-ly, place).

Given that I can interpret Ezekiel Chapter 1 entirely well,
I wonder if North shouldn't be replaced with another word:

char szEz1Notes[ ] = {

A satisfactory time has come for this interpretation because Ezekiel
with his prophetic ( teleologically informed ) knowledge describes here
an object not existing until our epoch: An internal combustion engine!

Let me give a quick overview:

The four wheels-in-a-wheel are pistons mounted on the crankshaft.

They are the four wheels that go upon their sides, and turn not.

The four living creatures are 'lively' articulated connecting rods.

The four metaphorical faces are: intake, compression, power, exhaust.

The four wings are valves: an outer pair, and inner pair on one cam.

The camshaft and engine head are the terrible crystal and firmament.

The throne, man, and rainbow are the distributor, rotor, and sparks.

The spirit, pneuma, wind, means gases. Lifted up means accelerated.
