personal Chums happening, so to speak

  I am house-sitting in the Pennsy woods, near the tributaries of  Brandywine. The 3 acre place is surrounded by greenery, including pine  and other trees that are the bottom of one's horizon when looking out  and up. 
  
  After a wonderful meal on an outdoor patio overlooking all the green, I  was talking with my friend about History, Pynchon's view of History and  the Good......I was
  launching into "History is a step function" from V. when I lifted my eyes skyward.
  
  Up above the trees at about 2 O'Clock there was a multi-colored---lots  of GR orange and reddish shades---balloon that wafted across the skies  much more slowly than the Chums travelled to Chicago.
  
  It was........a wonderful serendipitous chance event.
