Laughing out loud and getting sun tea up my nose!
Wood's review had a paragraph near the end spelling
out what he wanted from a novel.
I broke it out point by point and responded to
each, in sotto voce...
Composition gone horribly wrong, is probably best description.
Way back in part 1 I promised to prove AtD had it all.
Then (like the movie Doper's Greed) I wrote my
entire response without doing any of that.
My excuse was, when I found out he preferred Richardson
to Fielding, I despaired of being able to prove
he should like AtD.
But then as a dessert, I added it on, as a reminder
of what I'd undertaken & failed to do.
Thanks for noticing.
And as a third thought, rather than a 90s novel,
wouldn't it be interesting if he set another
book in one of the time frames he's already covered once?
