I was wondering why such an important article

To suggest that a department store takes the place
in 20th century America of the Temple in ancient Israel
does seem to go along with the Frankfurt School idea...
or maybe the D&G?
But I don't think those theorists wrapped the metaphor
back into the religious details the way we're seeing here.
Who or what is the Messiah who (or, whose passing?)
will rip the veil in this secular temple?
Again I'm thinking Triangle Shirtwaist...labor movement...
