It is just a hunch, as I said. But there a lot of people who know something 
about Pynchon: the high school, Cornell, the navy, the Boeing, literary 
agents, publishers, Salman Rushdie etc. If they were to say something it all 
could get into a biography. Whether they will be willing to speak is a big 
question of course, but usually such writers as Pynchon sooner or later get 
their biographies written whether they want it or not. Take Joseph Brodsky 
for example, he took great pains to preclude any biography from being 
published. Now there are several of them out, and people who knew him keep 
publishing stuff about his life. It just happens.
