Yes, absolutely agree. The film was removed from cinemas after the 
Soviet-German treaty and reappeared when the war broke out.

the original point - that Nevsky wasn't used to  *stand for* Stalin, he was 
used to *glorify* him as
>leader of the USSR.

I disagree with that. If we speak allegorically, the film glorifies the 
might of Soviet arms, the unity of Russian people when under threat, and 
other patriotic stuff. It isn't a panegiric to Stalin.
