A Show Of Hands

The truth is that the deep analysis has gotten pretty shallow, not
much analysis of the text going on. The arguments are still too
loose and personal and being avoided. I like what is going on in
these pages, not a bad patch to me.. The picture we often get of
this phase of history is mental pablum. P is showing us we can be
like caricatures of Japanese tourists taking snaps of what we've
already been told is important or we can wander into the messy
detritus and backalleys and listen in on conversations and get a
sense of the weirdness, warfare and terror and understand our roots.

For me the effect is mentally transformative and that's why I read
and reread this head fucking monster. Robin is one of a handful with
the time and energy to keep up the intensity. I am in my busy season
as a restorer of stained glass windows and soon to start teaching
summer classes, (www.brooksideglassworks.com ) so mostly a lurker
looking for something that gets me going. I frequent the Chumps of
choice where the pace is faster and the discussion feels more focused
on the and open ended as to interpretation.
