I guess the most deliberately (and effectively) strange would be The 
Prisoner.

On a pynchon tip:

toward the edge of Malta, and the Mediterranian beyond."

Like the edge of a painting cut square with a knife. The characters continue 
but we, the audience in the theatre, are as dead to them as if a v2 rocket 
had struck the theatre that we sit in...
