Imipolex G

It is most certainly Gottfried's shroud, however I always pictures Imipolex
G to be a black, yet still transparent material.

 

Also. Imipolex G.. I.G. . I.G. Farben. (just made the initialized
connection. . interesting)

I think it's also the material that the chalice at the castle is made
out of, and also the insulation around Gottfried in the rocket.  I've 
always pictured it as being transparent, and I think it is described
as such somewhere (?) in the novel.
