Well, we will move beyond the Gold Standard, like advanced
capitalism has.
307: Merle to Frank: "Maybe what you are looking for isn't really what you're looking for. "
...."there is a whole catalogue of things you're not looking for"...
a much wider 'range' of things, that theme again? is Frank too caught in vengeance
to know what is worth looking for? Merle, a decent concerned man and father (yes?),
knows, unlike Frank (and his father), what is worth looking for in life?
308-311 Doc Willis Turnstone, a Pynchonian innocent, with a good name [a special bird. Birds are good things in TRP unless they are birds of prey] saves himself in the wild, Wild
West with a little osteopathy. Funny scene. Gets bonded for life with some tough guys.
"one chance meeting..." steer him in a whole 'nother direction"
He falls hard for Lake, and marriage and life looks promising....then, she chooses the bad guy. Lake, daughter of Webb, can't handle a 'nice guy',a normal guy, settling down, etc.
Frank, when he learns is full of more vengreance. "I will kill the bitch>".......
"Does not, make no, fuckin' sense."
Essay Q: What does it all say of the family saga of the Traverses?
The good doc wants to consult Adventures in Neuropathy to try to explain Lake's actions. Where do we think TRP stands in relation to this behavior?
