Read in isolation, these scenes of
>departure seem to work just fine,

Of course the topic of 'departures' has been always important to P. Suffice
it to mention the title of a M&D part: 'Latitudes and Departures' with all
its polysemantic potential.

1. The act of leaving.
2. A starting out, as on a trip or a new course of action.
3. A divergence or deviation, as from an established rule, plan, or
procedure: ordered curry as a departure from his usual bland diet.
4. Nautical The distance sailed due east or west by a ship on its course.
AND archaic : death.
