Oh yes, absolutely. As I argued in an earlier post today, there are plenty 
of strong, independent women in Pynchon's fiction who resist the temptation 
to submit themselves to power - who may not even FEEL this temptation - and 
Dally and Erlys are good examples of this. Their relationship isn't rosy and 
unproblematic by any means - Erlys can't really forgive herself for having 
left tiny Dally, and Dally has a hard time forgiving her as well - but the 
two women come to an understanding (which also includes Merle).
