Point taken.  The phrase still seems weird to me, though.  Webb's not
ideological, he's just bonded indissolubly to his own social class and the
organization that stands up for it.  I've known Marxists whom I might call
"secular fundamentalists," but Webb doesn't remind me of them at all.
