No one can stop anyone from recommending a book. It's
up to the publisher to print a big "As Seen on TeeVee"
or whatever on everything. I think Continetal
European --and/or EU--law might be different (Michel,
Otto, Ya Sam, anyone?), there's that droit d'auteur or
whatever one might invoke with regards to, say, film
adaptations, et al., but, here, unless the author has
either some sort of specific contractual rights (an
anti-Oprah clause?) or just plain Pull with his/her
publisher, well, not much, unless, a la Franzen, s/he
simply shoots off his/her big mouth, so ...
