ATDTDA fizzling out?

it takes me soooo long to read Pynchon... i look up EVERYTHING I don't
understand and I don't move forward until I feel like I understand it...

sooo imagine my dismay when one of the characters riffs on some serious
pre-WWI stuff and I, because of GR, know quite a bit about WWII, but nothing
about WWI... its been days of diversionary reading and I'm itching to get
back in...

If I can't talk confidently about one of the subjects he is referencing I
won't continue... and there are few exceptions... like for the high-level
math shit... in which case anytime I meet a mathy person I annoy the
beejesus out of them w/ questions that probably don't make much sense.

and I too try to read every Pynchon-l email until I see a spoiler and then I
wash my eyes out.

B
