Well, Oprah came close....

I realize, of course, that what Monte at some point hilariously called "that
arcane hobby called 'real life'" doesn't allow the vast majority of
p-listers to be on call 24/7 - god knows I have to steal the time from what
mostly seems to be more pressing matters - but the sudden burst of activity
caused by the Oprah-thread (and by this one) does seem to indicate that
listers do have a little time on their hands in which to post their
opinions; and I wish that those few posts could be on AtD instead.

Keith said that hosting can be its own reward, and I guess he's absolutely
right about that. On the other hand, based on little comments on the list,
the latest hosts seem to've grown increasingly dispirited as their fine work
has mostly been met by silence. Even though this silence may in reality be
silent appreciation, as many of the posts earlier today have indicated (and
thanks for responding, all of you!), it must surely be less than motivating
to crank one insightful post after another out into the Aether without much
response. I think we owe it to the hosts, at least, to pipe up once in a
while rather than silently appreciate what's going on. As Pierce Inverarity
sez: Keep it bouncing!

Best,

Tore
