An American industrialist, Henry Ford, has this semi-famous quote on history: "History is bunk."
I think Robin's observations and linking with Steven Daedalus' famous words are in Pynchon's meanings......
In this way?: History has always been a "nightmare" for Pynchon's overlooked folk.......and one question posed by ATD, maybe, is TRP's view of History?
ATD ends after WW1 but before WW2....ATD ends 'better" [for the main characters]
than GR.....the WW2 novel....
And the future is so bad that people from it want to escape back to the time of ATD....
