ATD the norse/nunatak/serpent/odialesque thing

OK.....if NYC is Metropolis or Gotham City in some way....."destroyed' but always there....
  then is the destruction "real" or just more "mediated possibility"---or, another way to state it, Maybe: the idea of destruction or destruction?
   
  Or is my distinction false?
