THanks for those postings and also the one about Japanese anime Neon
Genesis -- I have seen a preview for this and now I may seek it out. Oh and
the only reason why, and maybe this was also intentional, I kept second
guessing NYC was laziness -thanks for looking up Whithall Gigs, the level
of looking things up in each of us continues this Chaos of this title,
where everyone's pretty much reading a different thing by the end of the
day depending on how many languages you know and whether the encycl is
handy, was because it only took them (COC) a second to get to New York. I
mean, you would have hoped to hear more about how it was to transport this
thing, how the thing was in transit, but boom suddenly the action switched
to this city..

While the city destroyed by the Figure may not be New York, exactly, it 
certainly touches that city on a number of points, with this arch as in 
important nodal point. I tend to think of the city destroyed by the Figure 
as either Metropolis or Gotham City: Both of these cities from DC's 
comicbook universe are clearly more or less identical with NYC, and both 
have been destroyed countless times without leaving any marks on their real 
counterpart.
