The kinda book I wish I want to put together might be called My Year of Reading Pynchon: Everything Enfolds....besides deep truths TRP leads me to, I would put in the stuff I find almost every day that TRP has lead me to see differently, partly through what I think is his vision.
This woman, one of whose books I know, is the kind of female adventurer that TRP pays
a kind of homage to, esp in ATD, I think. Agree? Yashmeen, different but the same? Agree?
But, the major reason I have sent this to all is her two sentences at the end of this obit.
She travelled toward color, she said. THAT IS A PYNCHON VISION OF GOOD PLACES, NO?
And, that she hated 'progress'; except for anaethesia...Chekhov, a good doctor, said something similar about anaesthesia and we know where TRP stands on certain kinds of
"modern progress'. I think preterite might apply to Ms. Lesley Blanch, RIP.
Onward,
MK
