e: AtDTDA: (8) 238: Inter-Textual Meta-arsal Chomp

If knowing about metaphysics was all that it takes to
experience Transcendence, a lot of us book readers
would spend most of our time across that interface,
instead of looking up from the page and having to
continue to worry about work, money, relationships,
and all the rest of the day-to-day, don't you think?

Perhaps it amounts to no more than a semantic quibble,
but it seems to me a world of difference exists,
between knowing something and doing something, or, put
another way, I think you usually have to _do_ it
before you can really _know_ it.

That's my sermon this lovely Sunday morning.

...."chomping" at the bit, looking for more time to
read ATD, but happy these days with the business that
keeps me from it,
-Doug

P.S. If a fellow had a chance to prowl through
HarperCollins warehouses this summer, in search for
Pynchon-related stuff from the Lippincott acquisition,
what would people suggest should top the list? Thanks
in advance for any suggestions.

"[...] none of you people has ever known a moment of
Transcendence in
his life, nor would re-cognize one did it walk up and
bite yese in
the Arse" (M&D, 231:22-24)

 From the pynchonwiki:

Latin: A bite on the ass?

The meaning is that he wouldn't know
metaphysics if it bit him in the ass.
