Beethoven's late quartets!!
ahh, well, over time one becomes more what one is, usually --
-- ST was no doubt a dick at 20; I'd like to see Dennis Kucinich
stay in office that long, and Ron Paul. Them duking it out for
President might make the race interesting, though I digress...
I don't really want anybody making policy for me anyway, so I won't
pursue the ageism inherent in thinking somebody @ 50 incapable of
understanding issues pertaining to either younger or older people
(or issues of individuals/groups as considered without respect to age)
- though if you follow politics, I think you'll agree it's a field
where it takes a lot of time to mature (unlike, say, sports) and young
minds are usually not as cognizant of the law of unintended consequences
and other pitfalls as older ones (because they haven't screwed up as
much or for as long)
but I'll tell you what (and see if you don't agree with me in 22 years)
I wish I could go back now and set some policies for myself @ 20
and not unrealistic stuff like save more money, or exercise more
- I set those at the time, anyway...
just clues about how to be happy 'n' shit...
knowing how to stop worrying...
valuing friends & family...
I don't think I was so different then from myself now, that those
clues wouldn't work for the juvescent Mike -
though I'd hesitate to think I could suggest anything that might work
for anybody else at any stage in their lives
