THE new year will start in with a merry whirl, and will continue gayly up to Ash 
Wednesday, which is due on Feb. 21. Thus society has only fifty-one days in 
which to enjoy the festivities of the formal Winter season. The exodus to Palm 
Beach and other Southern resorts will begin within a fortnight, and will 
doubtless reach its height about the middle of next mouth. . . .

Tuesday will be very gay. Mr. and Mrs. Amos R.E. Pinchot are to entertain with a 
dance at Sherry's, and Mr. and Mrs. George M. Pynchon are to hold a dance for 
their daughter, Miss Beatrice Pynchon.
