NEWPORT, R.I. July 10. -- With their 
bulls rolling in a heavy ground swell 
that kept dumping what little breeze 
there was out of their great sails, the cup 
yachts sailed a farcical race over a 
thirty-mile triangle here today. Resolute, 
as usual, emerged the winner. Her actual 
margin was 31 minutes and 21 seconds 
over the Cochran sloop, Vanitie.

that the name Resolute had been selected by the 
members of the syndicate who are 
having built at the Herreshoff Yard at Bristol R.I., 
the sloop yacht that is a 
candidate for the defense of the America's Cup 
against Sir Thomas Lipton's Shamrock IV.
