                    This section is so pink I can hardly 
                    stand it. The pink tab is an indication
                    of shared material from The Crying
                    of Lot 49 but now it's obvious that
                    the central shared element is 
                    Pynchon & Company. Modern poetry
                    can be a cryptic reference to Waste,
                    and Waste as a legal concept in
                    reference to property management
                    warps over to the wastelands and
                    that startup issue in Modern Poetry, 
                    T.S. Elliot's the Wasteland. "The
                    cryptos have been on it around the 
                    clock, but so far they haven't cracked it."
                    Note how this revolves around the 
                    'Shambhala Affair' and how Shambhala
                    has its own chamber of commerce
                    stamp right on the cover of the book.
                    Of course, a lot of what goes on here
                    is a parody of internet behaviour---
                    "For those blessed with youth, money, 
                    and idle time, it amounted to little more 
                    than a faddish embrace of the Latest 
                    Thing, though many corresponded by 
                    gas for emotional reasons, including 
                    those so vehemently discontented with 
                    the post office that they might have been

                    Suffragettes qued up ahead of them.

                    one might expect, had set up a 
                    department to monitor Gas traffic. Pg 607
                    But, then again, OBA knows how the
                    meme of 'W.A.S.T.E.' so easily adapts
                    to the reality of the 'net'.
