[616.30-32] "They call themselves 'Otzovists'. Godbuilders. A new subset of
heretics, this time against Lenin and his Bolsheviks-said to be
anti-Materialist, devout readers of Mach and Ouspensky ..."
Cf. ongoing conflict between mathematicians. Fragmentation, thesis and
antithesis.
The terms 'bolshevik' and 'menshevik' simply mean 'majority' and 'minority',
with reference to the 1903 split in the Social Democratic Workers Party.
Lenin saw the Bolsheviks as a vanguard party that would refuse to
collaborate with other parties (fast-forward to the April Theses following
the February Revolution in 1917).
[616.36] "... the Materialists in Geneva ..."
Exiled in western Europe Lenin lived for a while in Geneva, at about the
time referenced here. Tom Stoppard's Travesties imagines Lenin, James Joyce
and Tristan Tzara in Zurich simultaneously before/in 1917.
